Give a man a fish and you’ve fed him for a day. Teach a man to slice, dice, bake, braise, rub and roast… and he’ll never go hungry again.
Today’s deal takes you to a little bit of France in the heart of Soho at La Terrasse, a rustic gem of a restaurant hidden between Old Bailey and Staunton Street. It’s where renowned Chef Rene Etienne hones his skills in the French culinary arts… and where you can pick up $200 for $400 worth of infinitely valuable culinary inspiration. Chef Rene’s philosophy is simple, quality produce cooked precisely and presented with minimum fuss, utilising only the freshest and finest ingredients.
Each 2.5-hour class focuses on a starter or main and dessert. Think French classics Baked Snails in Garlic and Parsley Butter, Roast Duck Breast or Seabass and Scallops Provencal. Then top it off with a repertoire of desserts from Egg Flan, Crepes Suzette and Warm Melty Chocolate Cake to our favourite, “The Floating Island” – elegant poached meringue atolls floating in a sea of crème anglaise (that’s vanilla custard for you plebs). Chef Rene Etienne brings a whole lot of heart to the table. Incredibly enthusiastic and passionate, he’s always keen to share his knowledge of great classic recipes, special techniques and Grandma’s odd secret or two. After the class, you’re free to sit down and sample your cooking in the restaurant, with complimentary coffee and tea included. Bon Appetit!
